At The Clipper Shop, we offer our customers specialised services performed by qualified and skilled technicians. Whether you need your dryer or clipper serviced or some other piece of grooming equipment needs attention, we can find a solution to get you back to work as soon as possible. Blade Sharpening

CLIPPER BLADE SHARPENING STANDARD (A5 snap on style) 

Sharpening is done on factory calibrated equipment. Known as hollow-ground, this method allows more pressure at the tips of the blade teeth, thus eliminating dragging and jamming of hair. Blades will cut smoother & stay sharp longer. Blades are disassembled, cleaned, and then checked for worn parts. After sharpening, they are dipped in a blade wash, oiled, reassembled and checked for proper tension and alignment.

Customers who send 10 or more blades receive a free Blade Carry Box with their first sharpening service purchased. NORMALLY $6.00 each!

NOTE: We do not guarantee how long a resharpened blade will last as this is subject to many usage factors outside of our control. We do guarantee however, that all blades are thoroughly tested for proper functioning before being returned to the customer. Any issues with blade or scissor sharpening must be reported to The Clipper Shop within 7 days of receipt otherwise resharpening or repair costs will be incurred by the customer.

Scissor Sharpening

We offer precise, quality sharpening on all style shears. Are you a "Lefty"? Not a problem. The Clipper Shop specializes in sharpening left handed shears.

We also offer specialty sharpening of higher quality convex edge scissors.

Clipper Repair

Clippers are fully disassembled and cleaned when serviced. All worn parts are checked and replaced if needed.

Clipper Servicing - Small Animal From $45.00*

*Price excludes replacement parts and return freight charges. If your clippers are not repairable or serviceable, a non-refundable $45 workshop fee will apply. This cost can, however, be offset against a like for like replacement if purchased from The Clipper Shop. Subject to availability.

**NOTE: The Clipper Shop does not service Large Format Animal Clippers e.g. Horse/Cattle large format clippers.

***NOTE: Spare parts used in the repair or servicing of equipment carry a 3 month warranty against manufacturer defects only. Problems arising from wear and tear, misuse or failure to properly maintain equipment by the customer are not covered under warranty. Any issues arising immediately after a service must be reported to The Clipper Shop within 7 days of receipt otherwise repair costs will be incurred by the customer.

Dryer Repair

Keep your dryer in top condition. The Clipper Shop only services dryers sold by us including; Tornado, TCS, Pet Jet and Double K. All dryers are cleaned and checked for worn parts. Return freight charges are not included.

DRYER SERVICING - DOUBLE MOTOR From $165.00*

DRYER SERVICING - CAGE DRYER / BRUSHLESS DRYER From $175.00*

*Price excludes replacement parts and return freight charges. If your dryer is found to be not repairable or serviceable after investigation, a $45 workshop fee will be charged. 

**Tornado Dryer service charges include replacement motor. Included dryers: Tornado single and double brushed motor dryers.

EXPRESS SERVICE

Do you need your equipment serviced urgently? The Clipper Shop is able to offer the following Express Servicing for additional cost and promises to have work completed within 36 hours of receipt*:

NOTE: We can only accept 4 Express Jobs per day so bookings are strongly encouraged.

Tier 1 - Additional $20

Includes Either:

  • Sharpening of up to 10 standard A5 blades and 2 scissors and servicing of up to 2 small animal clippers

OR

  • Servicing of 1 Single Motor Dryer**

Tier 2 - Additional $50

Includes Either:

  • Sharpening of 11-20 standard A5 blades and 3-6 scissors and servicing of 3-5 small animal clippers

OR 

  • Servicing of 1 Double Motor Dryer**

How long does it take for my equipment to be serviced or repaired?

Service work turnaround is dependent on current workloads. We try to complete service work within 2 weeks of it being received at The Clipper Shop subject to parts availability. Feel free to call us before sending your work to us for a turnaround estimate.

How do I pay?

Please note: Afterpay is not available as a payment option for services performed at The Clipper Shop.

Once work is completed, you will receive either a phone call or email notifying you that your job is ready for dispatch. Once we receive payment, then your goods will be sent to you.

  • A worn lever can cause the blade to not cut right or leave lines in the coat
  • Excess hair inside can cause your clipper to overheat
  • Your clipper can also overheat and function incorrectly when the brushes are worn down
  • Blade drives or levers need to be changed often
  • A weak or worn hinge on your clipper can prevent blades from sitting or cutting properly
    • It can also make the clipper noisy when the blade is attached

How to Maintain Your Clippers

1. Clean After Every Use

  • Brush Out Hair: Use a small cleaning brush to remove trapped fur from blade teeth.
  • Apply Blade Wash: Dip the running blade tip into blade wash liquid for 10 seconds.
  • Wipe Dry: Turn off clippers and wipe excess fluid with a clean microfiber cloth.

2. Lubricate Constantly

  • Oil Every 15 Minutes: Apply clipper oil during long grooming sessions to reduce friction.
  • Target Key Points: Place one drop on each side of the cutter blade rail and 3 drops across the top of the cutter blade itself.
  • Run to Distribute: Turn on the clippers for 5 seconds to spread the oil evenly.
  • Wipe the Excess: Dab away extra oil so it does not attract loose hair.

3. Cool Down Hot Blades

  • Monitor Temperature: Touch the blade against your wrist regularly to check heat.
  • Swap Blades: Keep a backup blade handy to switch out while the first cools.

4. Store Safely

  • Remove the Blade: Take the blade off the drive lever before long-term storage.

Wrap Securely: Store in a dry, dust-free case away from humid grooming areas.
